Professional Badminton

Yonex Super Series in Johor ended. So fast. Just as I was getting hooked on to watching the games.

Went to the stadium with my mum, Cassie and Edmund. It was Edmund's first time watching a real game. Wong Mew Choo was up first. She improved tremendously. She was quite accurate in placing the shuttlecock. She manage to tire her opponent out long before the game ended. Thus, she was able to secure her gold medal. Proud of her.

I remember also watching women and men doubles from Malaysia. Women doubles were represented by Chin Eei Hui and Wong Pei Tty. Their world ranking is number 5. They too managed to win in the finals. In my opinion, Chin's smashes were quite good.

Malaysia sent 2 teams for the men doubles. As expected, Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong were there. Made quite a good deal of mistakes. I think they are the best men's pair in Malaysia. However, their inconsistency are often disappointing. Next pair are Fairuzizuan and Zakry. Both pairs did not qualify for the semi finals.

Lastly, we have Datuk Lee Chong Wei playing against Bao Chun Lai. Was really excited to watch them play. However, Bao Chun Lai's same old knee problems caused him lots of trouble during the game. He wasn't smashing as he usually is. Towards the end of the game, both of them looked more like they were having a training. I'd expected much more, as Bao Chun Lai had just won the Japan Super Series 2 months ago. Anyway, our Datuk won Park Soon Hwan in the finals.Weird huh? Have to call him datuk although he's only 27? Finals was an easy game for him. He played like a tiger - playing with its prey before swallowing him up. He slowed the pace of the game initially, but during the second set, he moved fast. I've seen Lin Dan using this tactic before. I guess it's only for the super pros?

Another game etched deeply in my mind was when Peter Gade (Denmark) played against Boonsak Ponsana (Thailand) . I think they are pretty good. Although with the Lin Dan and Chong Wei, it'll be tough for them to be the cream of the crop.

This Super Series wasn't fantastic as many China and other top badminton players wasn't here. Plus, tickets were quite expensive compared to other games my friends and I went during the previous years. Their next game will be in Laos. Somebody, sponsor my air tickets please.=)

By the way, my family and I had dinner after watching the match in the stadium on Friday at some hawker centres. Saw nearly all the badminton players from various countries and their coach there having steamboat. Seems that the hotel they were staying was just nearby. Oh. And Bao Chun Lai looks better in person. =) I've said this for the 10000000th time. He caught me staring and pointing at him. Oops. But I guess he should be used to it by now. If only I had been thick-skinned enough to walk up and have steamboat with them......

Day Out With Best-ies

Nothing beats hanging out with your best friends especially those in high school. =P Marvellous day out, I'd say. We met at the cinema in City Square at about 12 p.m. After buying tickets for 'New Moon', we went to have our lunch. We took a long time to decide where to have lunch. After practically standing in front of every restaurant we can see, we decided to have our lunch in SDS.

Then, off we go to the theatre.....'s toilet. Did what most Convent girls do there ~ take pictures. One particular conversation I remember outside the toilet. It goes something like this.
Wan Ying : Don't sit with Zetong later. She talks a lot in the cinema.
The rest of us : Harr? Really r?? *Starts finding every other person to sit with except Zetong*
Zetong : *wave tickets smugly, as all our tickets are with her.*
Cindy : Forget it lar. You better go sit on the steps in the cinema.
Anyway, in the end, Siew Lee and I had to sit beside her.

The movie was kinda boring. I think the only reason people will like it is because there are quite a few hot guys in the movie. =)
Went to get some drinks from 'Cool Blog' after the movie. After that, we went shopping for Wann Chiing's dress. Not fruitful. Went home after that. Didn't have enough time to gossip. Hmm.. should have another outing, right? Oh. And I was kinda surprise Audrey didn't come. Although I believe she certainly knows that we need to hear her side of the story..? Haiz.

Here are some pictures.

Long Holidays

Looks like I'm really afraid I can't play enough. Yesterday, I went for softball training to try and train my juniors and of course, to get some exercise. I guess their beloved Convent headmistress still isn't use to the JB Convent culture where past headmistresses really trust the seniors. The current headmistress seem to me as if she is very afraid to get into trouble. =( No wonder the juniors' skills seem rusty. Wonder how many of them will get to represent Johor next year?

After 4.5 hours of softball, I went and meet up with Agnes. We went to Redbox together. Had a super fun k session. I think I'm having a sore throat after singing for 4 hours. We also met Audrey who was busy working. She still seems pretty upset over what happened recently. Will meet up with her and the other five of them on Friday. Yay! I can't wait. *counting down the minutes =P*

At night, I went for badminton with my cousins, Cassie, my dad and his friends. Looks like my badminton skill are going down the drain. Oh. Wait. I don't think I had any to begin with. Anyway, played badminton till 11.30 pm. Was dead tired. Quite a fun day, right? At least I didn't have to stay at home and rot. Hehe.

This evening, I went for my first yoga session. With Cassie, Daphne and her mum. Really couldn't stop laughing at the beginning as i was super stiff. Luckily the teacher didn't kick me out of his class. I will be going for softball training tomorrow morning again. Gotta wake up early. So, Nights.

Surprise!!

I'm kinda certain my blog got no readers already. Hmm... not a bad thing. =) Kinda lost the feeling to blog. Probably because i was starting to realise it's nearly the end of the year. In the beginning of the year, I kept telling myself that 1 year is too short, didn't wanna make too many close friends. Memories are roots. Plant too many of them and you'll be leaving in the past? I dunno what kinda thinking this. Quite stupid huh? Anyway, i guess that didn't work out. I'll still be missing the whole lot of you anyway. G3 rockss.

Went back to Subang on Tuesday with Daphne who's going there to meet her friends. Real noisy, that monkey. Halfway through the journey, she told the bus to stop as she needs to go to the ladies. When she came back, she told me, loudly, 'Eh, I think I'm the only 1 who went down for the toilet stop ya? Very paiseh.' Then she laughed. Aiyo. Those who seen her should know the way she laughed. Regret that i didn't bring some paper bags to cover my face with. =) Went out for dinner with my cousins.

Had my first prom on Wednesday. Betty and I went to some shop in Pyramid to get our makeup and hair done. I'd say, kinda scary. Had people staring at us as we still had normal clothing on with real thick makeup. They probably think that we were crazy or something. Went to Sunway Resort Hotel at night. Food was not bad but PA system sucks bad. Actually we wasted a lot of food.I think we wasted bout 3 dishes? I think nobody in our class seen the last 3 dishes as we were taking loads of pics at the corridor. The boys are real posers. They even went to the gents to take more pics. I always thought that those were girls rights? Then we went clubbing as there were free tickets. More like just going in to take a look. Didn't stay there for a long time. I don't think I'm stepping in again unless I'm going in with a humongous group of friends.

Was packing my stuff on Thursday, when i received a random message from Bruce. Next second, I was in the car with Jon, Chin Fei, Jay, Bruce and Navin as the driver. Went to the theatres to watch Planet 51. Went to the arcade too. Haven't been there for awhile. Kinda fun. Thanks loads. =P

Came back to Johor on Friday. Went to my cousin's house on Thursday night with Daphne. Never did stop eating in their house. Shall thank my cousins here, for sending us to the bus station. I'd say, we were Text Colorkinda racist. In the bus, I was asking Daphne about how the Malaysians are doing in Australia. And of course our topic went over to... Then, I turned around and look. The whole bus was full. All Malays except 4 chinese including us. We were lucky we weren't asked to get down of the bus. The rest of the journey was a much quieter one.

Hmm.. Must go play pool with my roomie, Jiayi again when i go back to Subang. Must go snowflakes too. Must meet up with my G3-mates. And the list goes on...

Life and Music are Inseperable

Yup. I know I'm supposed to be studying now for trials next week. Or at least be doing my Investigative Design Skill for Physics, which I think is totally killing me. Can't blame me right? I can't even carry out an experiment properly without failing 50% of the time. Designing experiments? I must be out of my mind. Anyway, will have to bear with it as it 's the last time i'm having anything to do with experiments, as most of you know I'll be doing Accountancy in about 4 months time.

Kinda sorry to leave my blog in the fridge for so long, (leng cang). =)

I couldn’t help myself and came to blog when I saw this must clearer version of the song I'm addicted to. I know this song is an old song (about a year ago, i think), but I just couldn't find a clear version and there's no music video for it. So, since I found it, here's what I want to share:

小宇 - 唯一的唯一 (Wei yi de wei yi, by Xiao Yu)

Now, back to my Investigative Design Skill. =( And, all the best to people having their exams.

With Friends and Holidays

Last Wednesday

We had our Charity Carnival. PText Colorroud that all our nyonya kuihs were sold out. After that, me, Mei Yan and Jennie went to Sunway Pyramid for movie - 'The Proposal'. Nice movie. Recommended by the movie expert, Elsie. =) Went and play bowling before watching movie as we were still early. My bowling skills dropped. Now, it's just barely above 100. Not that I had much to start with. =(

Last Friday

Got my Chem paper back. Wann Chiing, hellppp!! Whole paper red! =( Wonder what was i thinking when I was doing that paper. Oh ya. Homework. Got a whole lot of proposals and tutorials. Must start on it soon. Looked forward to my hols anyway. In the middle of classes, got a random message from Siew Lee saying that she and her college mates coming to Sunway Pyramid after visiting Monash Univesity. Jiayi and I went and meet them after classes. Glad to see so many familiar people from JB in Pyramid. We not only saw Audrey, Siew Lee, Hui Yin, Kenneth, Kim, Regina, Angeline and Ian, but also Pei Inn, Ye Yean and Ting Kang (from primary school). My parents came to pick me at night. Went to The Gardens Hotel where my father would be having meeting the next day.

Last Saturday

Went to Midvalley Megamall with my mum in the morning, when my dad was having his meeting. Then, my mum drove us to Times Square for me to meet up with Zetong and Wan Ying. Met them at Barbeque Plaza. Can't blame me for being late. I was never good with roads and my mum's only been there once before. Anyway, really glad that they hadn't changed. Still porcupine and ketam. Perfect. Just then, I realized how much I've missed them. The good times we had in Convent... Irreplacible.

Was supposed to meet Kar Inn on Sunday. But she couldn't make it. But guess what? I accidentally bumped into her in One Utama at night. I guess that's fate? =) She still looks the same. Although a more mature version of the Kar Inn in Form 3.

Sunday

Picked Kai Ping from Subang and travel back to JB.
Monday to Wednesday
Was a blur. Typical? I think I might just die much earlier than I am suppose to if i just continue procrastinating? Anyway, I get to watch Singapore Channel again. At least for this week. Yippie. =)

Revenge of the Earth

Aloha. Sorry for the lonnngg wait.
Anyway,
Imagine being trapped in a mudslide.
A massive one.
What would you do?

Imagine losing all your love ones,
Or worrying bout them,
Not knowing whether they are alive or dead.
People you have knew and lived with for decades.

If you are one of the survivors of these natural tragedies,
Do you have the guts to carry on living?

I’ve been thinking about these questions since the mudslide in Taiwan occurred. It was very much more serious than I thought. Looking at the images and video clips on television. My heart goes out to them, but what can I do? And to think I’ve been spending an hour or so before that, grumbling about the internet connection, which hasn’t been working since last week. (Yes, I’m guilty of not coming online because of this. Sadly, not because I’m hardcoring.) My problem seems so insignificant.

Some pictures to illustrate my point

Tragedy

Hotel collapse

Buildings tumbling

Bridge falling apart

Mud and water exploding

Land slide

Flooding in Ping Tung

Saving people

Searching for survivors / human bodies

This used to be a village (Shao Lin village)

Typhoon's true face (pretty, yet disastrous)

Have you noticed that these disasters become more frequent and more serious as years passes? So now, is this Buddha /God / Allah 's way of punishing us for ill-treating earth?
